Ants

Ant Exterminator

Many different types of ants are commonly found across Okeene, where they usually make their homes in their natural outdoor habitats underground and in grasses. However, they spend every moment searching for food and water, which means they are also a constant threat to invade homes and businesses looking for human food and waste when it is available.

Many of our commonly found species will form permanent colonies around or inside homes and businesses near newly discovered food and water sources. Ants transmit bacterial and viral organisms to any food they contact while feeding. They are food sources for other pests that can make their way inside your property looking for food. Recent wet and warm conditions in our area have led to ants' more significant residential and business infestation. When they find food inside buildings, they drop chemical scent signals to the other ants in the colony to lead them to the food, and an infestation can be immediate.

Oklahoma Ant Species

There are many different species of ants found inside homes and businesses in our area. Here are some of the most common.

  • Carpenter Ants can cause significant damage to wooden structures in homes and businesses. They do not eat wood, but instead, they chew on it to make their tunnels and nests. Sawdust piles around baseboards, windows, or other wooden materials can evidence Carpenter Ant activity. They are dark-colored and large. They will build satellite nests in wood inside of buildings when food and water are nearby. An infestation can also be a reliable indicator of conditions favorable to termite infestation.
  •
  • Pavement Ants - The anthills we see along sidewalks and on the outdoor pavement are usually the work of Pavement Ants. These tiny ants can cause significant property damage by undermining slabs and foundations and pressuring and cracking pavement or other concrete structures. When sweet or oily foods are found, these ground ants will quickly move in and out of human structures. They will also move inside soon following heavy rains.
  •
  • Odorous House Ants - Their name comes from the pungent odor they cause when crushed. The familiar rotten fruity smell of one of these pests is familiar in areas where they forage inside buildings. They will nest indoors in softwood and often move inside during the winter months to seek warmth. They feed on virtually all human food sources.

Home remedy treatments are not effective. Every one that you see indicates a much more significant and hidden colony presence. If you see any evidence of them along baseboards, doorways, or windows, they have likely established a pathway inside your home or business that will not be visible to you.
